EOS Imaging

The EOS system delivers low dose stereoradiographic images of patients in functional position. The scanning allows the acquisition of full body with precise 2D and 3D measurements, helping clinicians to better visualize mechanisms between the spine, hip, and knee, enhancing patient treatment across all stages of care.

EOS Imaging minimizes radiation exposure for all patients, whether it’s a single exam, or ongoing imaging to monitor a medical condition while delivering high quality images and a complete view of your medical condition, allowing your doctor to make informed clinical decisions and guide treatment.

When is it necessary to see a doctor for back pain or neck pain?

Symptoms

With back and neck problems, pain can be bad indicator of an emergency symptom. A back strain can be excruciating but doesn’t require surgery. Conversely, numbness in a foot or hand are emergency symptoms that need to be seen.

Conditions

You might be surprised to learn that 80 percent of the time, back and neck pain is simply a result of strain or soft tissue injury. About 90% of acute low-back pain improves within 6–12 weeks with conservative care (physical therapy, activity modification, medication, injections,

Therapy

Physical therapy and Injection therapy can be a effective treatment option to improve back and neck pain without having to undergo surgery.

Surgery

For complex cases, Texas Spine & Scoliosis can provide minimally invasive spine surgery through a half-inch incision, as well as scoliosis treatments.

Have you experienced any...

Loss of control of bowel or bladder?

Loss of bowel/bladder control is an EMERGENCY symptom. You need to see a spine surgeon or go to an Emergency Room within 24 hours, or the symptom could become permanent.

Call our office IMMEDIATELY for an appointment at 512.324.3580 and mention this symptom!

Numbness or tingling in an arm or leg?

Radiating pain or tingling into a leg or arm, especially when it extends below a knee or elbow, can imply a herniated disc, and should be seen by a spine specialist within a week. Radiating pain can often be treated non-surgically with medication, a spinal injection and or spine therapy.

Call our office within a week for an appointment at 512.324.3580 and mention this symptom - or click here to request an appointment.

However, the symptom of numbness or weakness in a hand or foot implies a SERIOUS NEUROLOGICAL COMPLICATION of a herniated disc, and if not addressed promptly, the symptom of numbness or weakness in a hand or foot could become permanent ! This includes the symptom of "footdrop" where the front of the foot drags when walking. These symptoms can respond to specialized nonsurgical treatment like a spinal injection if addressed promptly. This symptom needs to be seen by a spine specialist in physical medicine & rehabilitation or a spine surgeon within 2 days.

SEVERE trauma, fall or car accident?

A fractured bone in the spine can cause serious neurological damage, including PARALYSIS if the fractured bone slips out of place and presses against the spinal cord. You should see a spine specialist in physical medicine & rehabilitation promptly who will perform X-rays to determine if there is any fracture of bones, and to provide appropriate treatment after the injury. A car accident that causes neck pain can cause a "whiplash" injury to the neck which can worsen and become more painful if not treated promptly.

None of the above

Did the pain come on after lifting, or after aggressive exercise or sports activity?

Lifting an object, or sports activities can strain muscles, ligaments & tendons, causing painful spasms in the low back or neck. The good news is that back or neck strain doesn't require surgery and can respond quickly to non-surgical pain-relieving treatment with one of our physical medicine MDs. Home remedies like over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication and ice can also provide some pain relief. If the pain has not improved in 3 days you need to be seen by one of our physical medicine MDs to make sure there is no serious issue.

If the pain is in the low back, along with a fever, could be a kidney infection. You should see a spine specialist immediately. Back or neck pain that doesn’t radiate pain or numbness into a leg or arm can be caused by a variety of problems, including a strain of the muscles or ligaments in the back or neck. Home remedies include anti-inflammatories like aspirin, Advil or Nuprin, rest, ice and some simple back/neck exercises. Don’t do any exercise that causes an increase in pain. If pain persists you may need to see a spine specialist. Call our office at 512.324.3580 to request an appointment.
